Plains Group
Within the Nottinghamshire Federation there are groups of neighbouring WIs
The Plains Group consists of Arnold, Bestwood Village, Gedling, Netherfield & District, Sherwood & Woodthorpe. We get together for social events & craft projects on a slightly larger scale than we could achieve alone. Here is one example of us working together... THE PLAINS GROUP BANNER With the millennium drawing near it was suggested that each group make a banner. For some reason lost in the mists of time, Plains Group did not make one at that time. A few years later it was decided that we should have done so & so we got together to make one. It took us a lot longer than we had anticipated but ours was finished in 2012 and became the Jubilee Banner. At the time the Plains Group had slightly different WIs in the group. Since it was made Parkdale WI have merged with Nertherfield & District WI and Mapperley WI have closed, but Sherwood WI have opened and joined us There are some photos of its construction in the gallery. |

Plains Group Meeting 16th May 2014
We had a very enjoyable evening at the Lindsay Morgan Hall on Marshall Hill Drive & were entertained by Janet Staines
who talked about 'Unmentionable Foundations'. She also brought along many 'Stays' or corsets & explained the mysteries
of lacing etc. & the efforts women made to achieve a tiny waist. We were both shocked & amused in turn by what we learned
& are all very grateful to be living in the present day.
Photos of the occasion will be posted shortly in our Gallery.
